The S tu den t Life Council unanim ously passed all three res­ o lu t ions proposed in the report o f the C om m it tee on Campus Security at last night’s meeting. The Council also agreed to assign to the Hall Life Board the task o f d ra w in g up prelim inary recom m endations for changes in the present parietal system. The meeting opened with a challenge by Rev. James Riehle, Dean o f Students , against the sealing o f s tudent representative bd Roickle on the grounds that Roickle had been suspended in connection with the Dow-CIA protest and thus forfeited his position on the Council . S tudent Body President Phil McKenna im mediately moved that Roickle be allowed to remain at the meeting as a speaking mem ber, though the Council regulations dem anded that he surrender his voting rights. The m otion passed overwhelmingly. The first o rder o f business concerned the upcoming recom ­ mendations to be made by the SLC to the Board o f Trustees on the fu ture o f the parietal system. As originally drawn up last spring, the parietal issue was passed on an experim enta l basis through the first semester o f this year, at which time the Trustees would re-examine the question including the recom m endations offered by the SLC. The Council agreed to allow the preliminary proposals to be made by the Hall Life Board because they felt tha t body had been most closely associated with all the questions su rround­ ing the parietal program this year. The Board will present its repor t at next week’s SLC m eet­ ing and the Council as a whole will then vote on; the parietal proposals and send its recom ­ m endations to the Board of Trustees. It is expected tha t the s i g n in p r o c e d u r e as now em ployed will be one o f the most significant issues at hafld when th e Council votes next week. Fr.
